Greetings and meows from the Kraft fabrication shop!
Kiki-D here – First Feline of Kraft, Friend to Shop Technicians, Foe of Carpenter Bees, Guardian of Treated Lumber, and Mortal Enemy of Mice.
Hi! (or Hallo, if you call me eine Katze).
My workday starts when Randy arrives. He’s my boss. I escort him through the building and remind him of the treats he must pay for this service. Then I supervise Brandon in the wood shop. He says he doesn’t like cats but he rubs my ears anyway.
The top Boss in the office doesn’t care for cats either. He grumbles when I call at the door for Leni to come out and give me pets. He prefers spindly legged friends that jump over things and wear shoes. Shoes! Ew.
Horses don’t purr, either.
(Did you know that cats can jump five times their body height while horses can only jump 1.5 times? I think the shoes must weigh them down.)

I stay away from the metal men while they are working. Their beams clang and they make smoke and sparks that are not good to look at.
Occasionally Randy works poolside, at the plasma table – it’s noisy there, too. The water is weird and green and there are no fish in it.

When the weather is warm, I go hunting for mice – it IS my job, after all. I don’t like to eat their tails, so sometimes I leave them behind.
The humans make a fuss about the birds I bring them, but they should not be flying about my workplace!
I might need to find a new home soon. The landlord doesn’t allow pets on the premises, though he himself had dogs here. Dogs! Ew.
(Did they catch mice? Or keep the birds out? No.)
But I don’t like it when I miss closing and get shut out at night, especially when it rains. Once I got locked out when it snowed on the weekend and I was very sad. And cold. And hungry.
Leni says I am absolutely not allowed to go to the shelter with all the cages and I have to have a real family.
Some of the traveling humans have said they would make a place for me. The ginger fur installer lost his kitty friend recently, so he might need me to take care of him.
The black fur man with the special ears (Did he get fixed too? They only notched one of mine!) is funny and plays with me. He and the woman with the pointy boots took my snake away, though.
That’s about all I have to say, except see you tomorrow! Or, ciao! (That’s how they say bye in Germany, not the food chow.)
Keep your whiskers clean and your tail in the air,
Kiki-D
