ARC handles the mulch production of The Playcore Surfacing Group – an environmentally conscious manufacturing company that sources recycled materials. They make outdoor flooring and surfaces of all types, used on playgrounds and sports facilities all over the country.
The material is run through a series of high-powered magnets and metal detectors to screen for foreign objects, ARC rep Rochelle Miller tells us. They also do rigorous chemical testing to assure their customers that their product is safe for child and pet play areas.
The recommended depth of mulch for mulch is 3-4 inches per square foot – enough to provide shock absorption, but not enough to founder running hooves.
Kraft advocates black rubber mulch in horse stalls, as the darker color reduces glare, and keeps the surface warmer in the cold months.
